Dividend Income - July 2016 Update

Hi Everyone,

As Ray Charles once sung, Let the good times roll!!

All those big investments from extra money "laying" around are really paying off!   This months total came in at $425.20!!  which is an increase of 68% compared to last years $252 and a 23% increase compared to last quarters $345!

July Dividend Income:

Total: $425.20

Big positives from last year include new positions in: STAG, RAI, BNS, CSCO, STJ, UVE, CAH & PEB.  Holy cow, that's alot!!

Jump over to our dividend income page to see the increases month after month. There is also a nice chart on that page for all you visual learners out there. On that page, you can easily see dividend income investing at work which hopefully one day will be greater than our expenses and that's what we like to call The American Dividend Dream! Check out our complete portfolio here.

How was your July?

Thanks,

  1. Wow! That's great. YOY looks great as does the list of great stocks paying this month. Mine wasn't so impressive but that's ok, it is my lowest paying month. Keep up the nice work!

    1. No worries on how impressive things may or may not be, just keep pushing! Once upon a time I was only bringing in a few bucks but things starting gaining speed in no time.

    1. Thanks IH! We have been very fortunate over the past year. Probably wont see these types of increases next year, but no complaints here!

  3. Awesome job for July. Incredible year over year gain too from a pretty long list of payers. I have been looking at STAG too recently. Looks like an interesting REIT to get my feet wet. Thanks for sharing.

    1. STAG appears to be a very nice company. I have only owned it for a short time and it only goes up! However, I would have much rather had it stay where it was. It was cheaper than O at the time of purchase so that was the deciding factor. Needed a monthly payer again

    2. Have you looked into LTC as a monthly payer?

    3. I have not looked into LTC. Quick glance at chart and it looks exactly like O's. Could be an interesting pick but it also looks like it may be overpriced. I'll be sure to do some more research on it!

      Thanks!

  4. Wow awesome job! I recently picked up some STAG last month and could not be happier, it is a great stock that should continue to roar!

    1. Hopefully it doesnt "roar" too much! I would like to own more of it in the future!

  5. 68% is an incredible YoY growth. I have PSEC as well, but don't plan on adding to it any time soon. Thanks for sharing

    1. PSEC is a love/hate relationship. I bought it back at $10, and more around $8 but was real scared there for a while on the big drop. Thought I made the mistake of chasing yield. However, their NII covers the dividend so I don't see things changing much. The price has come back and I am finally positive on this position now. It's a nice relief. Love the 13% dividend though!

  7. Very nice work! Your year over year growth is pretty crazy, guessing you have a super high savings rate?

    1. Our savings rate is quite high, you are correct. As I have mentioned a few times previously, a lot of this growth is due to one time factors. First, we had money laying around to remodel our basement - after reading MMM and other FIRE blogs, we decided to postpone that work for a few years. Then, my wife has been skeptical for a long time about investing into the market but I finally persuaded her to use what was left of an old inheritance and invest it. This year, you are seeing the growth of those investments over a prior year. Can't say these yoy increases will happen much longer, but I wish they would!

  8. I cant wait to be able to achieve monthly dividends of this magnitude! Keep up the great work!

  9. That is a huge bump - no doubt helped out by steady investing and starting new positions. I took a look at the portfolio too - lots of solid dividend payers in there.

  10. While we don't have any of the same dividend stocks, it's great to see you're crushing it over here. You're definitely giving me some more to put on my watch list. Thanks for sharing.
