Dividend Income - March 2016 Update

Hi Everyone,

What a great month of March we just had and we are loving the income!  This was our third highest income total ever behind the last two December's and a whopping 42% higher than last March.

Keeping this post quick because the Masters is on so lets just get right down to the numbers...

This months total came in at $591.03!!  which like I said was an increase of 42% compared to last year but a 65% decrease compared to last quarter.  December is the high payout month due to mutual funds from the 401K.

March Dividend Income:

Total: $591.03

As you can see, there were quite a few new investments along with respectable compound growth.  LO was the reason for the -$22.02 but that has been replaced with RAI which pays out in a different month.

Jump over to our dividend income page to see the increases month after month. There is also a nice chart on that page for all you visual learners out there. On that page, you can easily see dividend income investing at work which hopefully one day will be greater than our expenses and that's what we like to call The American Dividend Dream! Check out our complete portfolio here.

How was your March?

Thanks,

  1. Very nice income ADD, that's fantastic growth YOY! Why does it show no income from Realty Income (O) this month? Or am I just misinterpreting the chart? Thx

  2. yea, no income from O this month because I sold it... Thought it was overpriced in regards to other REIT's. I plan on getting it back some time soon though so I'll leave it in as a place holder!

  3. Kudos on the year over year growth rate. $500+ is a nice piece of change to be reinvesting each month.

    1. Thanks! I just wish $500 was every month. Unfortunately, it is just 4 out of the 12 right now. Looking to change that in a hurry though

      Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Awesome results and great year over year increase as well. Your March was almost identical to mine in terms of dividends received and year over year growth. Nice varied list paying you as well. Thanks for sharing and keep upi the good work.

  5. Ha ha ha I definitely understand keeping the post short so you can watch the Masters. Priorities.

With your selling of Realty Income (O) do you often sell positions you think of as high? I'm a kind of buy and forget it type. I can see the benefit of selling a high position, but I'd be afraid I could never time it right. Has this worked well for you in the past?

    1. To be honest, this is the first sell of my portfolio where I thought a stock was high. Turns out, it has not been the best timed sell. My thought process was, O is selling for 20x FFO. OHI was at 12 at the time. Currently they are 10 (which is why I just made a $9K purhcase). PEB is also around 12x FFO. Medical/bio stocks also show some value right now - AMGN, STJ (which worked out really well with the buyout). I will definitely own O again, just need it to come down a bit.

Otherwise, I am all buy and hold!!

      Thanks for the comment
