Dividend Income - February 2015 Update

Hi Everyone,

It's that time again when I get to post about a favorite topic of mine, dividends!  I hope this post inspires other investors out there to start saving and investing as soon as they can.  The power you feel knowing that you are richer than you were yesterday and you didn't have to work for it is a wonderful feeling.  With that being said, lets get down to the numbers:

This month was once again a blowout compared to last years February total!  This months total came in at $271.22 which is a whooping 747% higher than last year and and 35% more than last quarter.

February is a middle of the road dividend total with regards to say January or March, not the least but not the highest.  However, I'll take this road all day long!  I continue to put more and more capital to work and it is truly paying off...  literally.  These reports just keep me thirsty for next months total's and all the ones after that.

February Dividend Income:
  • VZ - 67.35
  • T - 23.26
  • OHI - 26.50
  • O - 8.71
  • GLP - 28.54
  • PG - 14.80
  • KMI - 43.47
  • PSEC - 56.10
  • Money Market - .03
401K:
  • Bonds - 2.46
Total:  $271.22

Jump over to my dividend income page to see the increases month after month.  There is also a nice chart on that page for all you visual learners out there.  On that page, you can easily see dividend income investing at work which hopefully one day will be greater than our expenses and that's what we like to call The American Dividend Dream!  Check out our complete portfolio here updated on 3/2/2015.

Looking out in 2015, I'm thinking of adding some more GLP, KMI, another healthcare (perhaps DGX or GILD or more OHI) and WAGE.

How was your February?

Thanks,
ADD

    1. Thanks for stopping by DH. I was just browsing your site and I can definitely see why you have such a great feeling. Your dividend total is very impressive.

I appreciate the kind words, stay on the grind!

  2. Cranking it out my friend. The nice part about where you stand is the compounding has just begun. Given the vast amount of capital put to work over the last 12 months, you'll see some significant payoffs this year as that capital has a chance to actually produce income.

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks for commenting W2R. You are correct about the compounding part. I am just now starting to feel the affects of all the hard work I have put in over the past few years and it is a wonderful feeling.

You are right at the same income level basically so I'm sure you are feeling the compounding as well. Keep up the good work over there.

  4. A very solid month, $271.22 is a very solid number. A whopping 747% increase YOY just shows that you have made a lot of contribution to the portfolio and it's certainly paying off. Keep up the good work.

    1. I wish every month had a 747% increase! Unfortunately, they wont grow nearly that fast anymore but it was fun to write down that number. Just trying to keep up with you, you had a phenomenal month and your snowball is definitely running down hill quick

  5. ADD,
Great numbers for the month. Over $200 in 2nd month of the quarter is really impressive. I barely managed to cross $100 in Feb, but of course the 2nd month is the lowest one for me. I am hoping March to be better.

    1. Your totals are still going up and that's all that matters. You had a great month of February total return wise (as did most) so I wouldn't be too upset with just barely getting over $100. March is usually a great month since a lot of companies pay out in those quarters. I suspect we will both have great incomes!

  6. Hi, AmericanDividendDream,

Looks like the big telecoms were working for both of us last month (although for you a little harder than for me, apparently ;-)). Congrats on a big February!

    Keep on saving,
    Charles

    1. The telecoms certainly bring some added yield to my portfolio which is a welcomed site on Feb, May, Aug, Nov quarterly payments which are usually smaller when compared to the Mar, Jun, Sept, Dec months.

They worked a bit harder for me, but the thing to remember is that it is not a competition. My wife and I were at the same point you were a few years back. Started small and now its becoming a force to reckon with.

      Thanks for posting.

  7. Good month! Funny, I was going to analyze DGX and GILD myself in the next few weeks. Definitely keep us posted on what you find.

    1. I never invested in DGX because it hasn't been a dividend grower. The dividend was steady for many years, but it seems they might be changing their ways. We will see how things go with that one. GILD has been a monster in terms of appreciation. One problem I see is that the drug they developed cures the illness so eventually the thought process would be that they would not have any more customers. Perhaps they can get another blockbuster and continue the growth

      Thanks for stopping by.
